Happy Certification Nation Day! Every year, this day shines a spotlight on workplaces that have committed to improving their workplace culture, and in turn earned Great Place to Work Certification™. It highlights not only the importance of creating a great experience for employees at work, but also a global movement towards prioritising employee wellbeing, trust, and engagement. This year, organisations across various industries come together to acknowledge the hard work, collaboration, and trust that make exceptional workplace environments possible. So what are you waiting for? Find out how to celebrate your employees this Certification Nation Day!

Why Great Place to Work Certification Matters

Key figures

Over the past year, we at Great Place to Work® have had the privilege of surveying 66,765 employees in Ireland, allowing us to gain key insights into the lived experience of employees in almost 350 organisations nationwide. Given the diversity of the country's workforce, this sample size provides a robust cross-section of employees across various industries, roles, and experience levels, ensuring that the insights gathered reflect the broader working environment in Ireland.

Of those who were Certified:

  • 91% of employees agreed that "when you join the organisation, you are made to feel welcome"

  • 84% agreed that "management is approachable, easy to talk with"

  • And 81% agreed with the statement, "taking everything into account, I would say this is a great place to work".

The global impact of Certification

Certification from Great Place to Work doesn’t just serve as a badge of honour; it's a company-wide priority that embodies your organisation’s commitment to a high-trust, high-performance culture. It’s a powerful endorsement that signals to employees, customers, and the broader market that your organisation values its people and is dedicated to their wellbeing and growth. The foundation of this Certification is the Trust Index survey, a comprehensive tool that measures the level of trust between employees and leadership, the fairness of workplace practices, and the overall employee experience.

For employers, Certification offers invaluable insights into employee sentiment and areas for improvement to build that high-trust culture; for employees, it provides validation that their organisation is committed to creating a positive and productive work environment.

In the same way Certification isn't just to be seen as a badge of honour, Certification Nation Day isn’t just about celebrating individual company success (although that's a nice bonus!) — it’s about recognising a global shift in how we define and value workplaces. Certified companies become part of a larger community that collectively prioritises wellbeing, trust, and inclusion. This worldwide event fosters a sense of unity and shared purpose, encouraging organisations worldwide to raise the bar for workplace culture everywhere.

Celebrate your Certifiation

On Certification Nation Day, our Certified organisations take the opportunity to share their stories of workplace success and culture building. Many companies host internal celebrations, sharing their Certification status with employees to reinforce the pride and collaboration that earned them this recognition. They also engage externally, showcasing their achievements on social media, their company websites, and even through live events, inviting the world to celebrate alongside them.

Some common ways Certified organisations participate in Certification Nation Day include:
  • Employee spotlights: Highlighting stories from team members about their experiences working at the company, asking them why they think their organisation is a great place to work!
  • Social media campaigns: Share the Certification news with Great Place to Work branded content, using the hashtag #CertificationNationDay to connect with the broader community
  • Internal celebrations: Hosting team events such as virtual or in-person gatherings, lunch-and-learns, or company-wide meetings to celebrate the achievement and let employees know what this means for the organisation

A global community of Great workplaces
Certification Nation Day serves as a powerful reminder that workplace greatness is not confined to one industry, country, or region - it’s a global movement. Whether you're a healthcare provider in Dublin or a manufacturing firm in Tokyo, the principles of trust, respect, and employee wellbeing remain universal. Certified organisations around the world come together on this day to celebrate their achievements and to inspire others to follow their lead.

By participating in Certification Nation Day, organisations of all sizes can connect with a global community of Certified workplaces, learning from each other’s successes and challenges. This sense of shared purpose not only strengthens the bond between organisations but also reinforces the idea that workplace culture transcends borders, industries, and economic conditions.

As we honour the organisations that have earned their Certification, we also look ahead to a future where every workplace is a great place to work for all. By coming together on this day, we can continue to inspire, motivate, and build a brighter future for employees everywhere. After all, for many organisations, Certification is just the beginning of their journey toward greatness. Maintaining a great workplace requires ongoing commitment to employee engagement, transparent communication, and a willingness to adapt to the changing needs of the workforce. Certification provides the framework, but it's the day-to-day actions that solidify a company’s reputation as a truly great place to work.
